July 4th Celebration

All this while we waited for the parade to start!
And then the parade started - so exciting, except.... all the fire trucks and police cars were just too much.... but then we discovered candy! Ahh... the holidays!

A funny story

Colin and I were playing in the basement yesterday - he was contently playing and then started saying "No, No, No" repeatedly (he always says no in 3's). I finally went over and he Colin was talking to an ant. Apparently the ant was coming a little too close for comfort.

He eventually picked up the ant, and asked me to open the door. I did, and he threw the ant in the garden - then he came inside, picked up another one and did the same thing.

So (1) I think we might have an ant problem in the basement and (2) Colin agrees that they belong outside and not on his toys - what a great helper!

A walk to the park

With a park only a block away, we go often. Colin has taken to riding his bike to the park now that he is a big boy!

We love summer time!

The Quirks of my Kids....

Okay, I have finally admitted that my kids have quirks - here are a few...

My Princess...
  • When eating ice cream - will alternate between dinner and ice cream. One day it was asparagus and beef mixed bite for bite with her ice cream
  • Loves to have a shoe string hanging around her neck. Best finds around the house are shoe strings or ribbons which she will immediately put around her neck and wear for the day. Also, this string will entertain her for hours.
  • Will fall asleep in a moments notice. We will be driving in the car and she will be talking away having a great old time, and the next moment (literally a second later) she will be asleep!
  • Favourite veggies - asparagus!

Mister C

  • Wants to wear his shoes on the wrong feet! Apparently, this is more comfortable.
  • Calls all brown small animals bunnies. We go around the neigbourhood and calls out to the bunnies (or squirrels), and will then say good bye to them when we are past.
  • Prefers to watch TV on his head - well maybe not all the time - but he does often climb on the couch and squirm until he is almost upside down. There is no such thing as sitting and watching in our house!

15 months and growing

My Princess Bean is officially 15 months old (last week). It is hard to believe that time has gone by so quickly.

She is officially a toddler with her own attitude, opinions and personality. I love watching her develop her sense of self - and it will be a strong one, let me tell you! She might be laid back and content, but she knows what she wants.

A few firsts happened last week - Anna stood up from sitting in the middle of the floor without any support from a table or walls! She is taking more and more steps on her own. But her princess personality likes it better when you are holding her hand!

Growing Stats
Weight - 19.5 lbs - yes she is petite!
Height - 29 inches (right on the average for her age)
Head size - LARGE (following in her brothers steps with a 90th percentile head size)

Happy Birthday Princess!!!

What are we up to?

It has been a while...

Colin Loves - PLAYING OUTSIDE!!!! Pappa!!!! He will see him across the street and repeatedly say Pappa Pappa Pappa. It is fun to see them play lots of hockey together.

Anna Loves - Feeding herself - no more spoon feeding for this BIG girl. She also loves to play outside and her favourite is to scoot around picking up all the sticks!!! Anna also loves most foods - she is loving asparagus right now!

Mama Loves - the summer weather (finally), running in the morning before work, our new deck and backyard - so pretty. We are also going to the farmer's market on the weekends which I love.

New Things around our house

  • Colin is liking to read books - I think this might be the first time in his life. The fun now is before bed, him and I go upstairs to my bed and read 2 books. His favourite is the doggy counting book, which I have to read at least 3 times each night.
  • Anna over the weekend started walking holding only one hand. She will walk beside you - especially if she has a stick in the other hand.

Toddler words

  • Anna - is expanding her vocabulary including HI; bye bye; thank you; ni ni. The thing that surprises me is that she does not have one dominant word. Colin said Ball all the time. Which also related to his love for balls....
  • Colin - loves to shorten all words. Funny words - "Colin, it is time for dinner, we are having pizza". "Yum za. I eat za". On another day - "Colin would you like some Raviolis"? No, no ravis today.
