Spring is coming...

After a winter blast this weekend, we are looking forward to Spring. Today (and at 6:45 am) Colin wanted to get dressed and go outside. Being the nice mom that I am (as always) I let him go outside, but told him that I was not going with him. Plus (the mean side of me), I only dressed him in his spring jacket and no mitts - wishful thinking???? Yes we are eager.

Spring events coming up...
Run of the Mills - this Saturday. Little Man is registered for the Trix Trot!
Race for the cure - Mother's Day. I am walking with the neighbours and bringing the Princess for the fun.

But even more fun is Mother's Day - and what better way to celebrate than a give-a-way!!!! Check out this link - I think it will be worth your time - Mothers day give away .

Only in Minnesota.... Snow Castles!

We were not expecting 3 inches of snow on Saturday - and thus the spring weather gear. But we still had fun making snow castles!

What are we up to?

This week

Colin loves - continues to play outdoors, and really does not want to come in at night. We have to bribe him with milk (or chocolate soy milk)! At the moment he loves the outdoors so much, he does not want to go to bed at night and is waking up even earlier (6 am instead of 6:30 or later). Let's just say he is a little tired....

Anna loves - is enjoying her freedom as she moves around the table - she has mastered the corners in the last week. She loves to explore the outside too - playing in the dirt, picking up every branch and leaf she can find. I can't wait until she starts walking to minimize the stains on her pants!

Momma loves - running outside (it has been a long winter), and the fact that Colin and Anna both like the jog stroller; a quiet week at work with minimal meetings!

Words in the house - Colin's favourite words right now - "mommy", my reply "yes sweetie", that is all. I think he just wants to know I am listening.

Food loves - Anna is loving everything - even things she would gag on before (sweet potato). Colin's favourites are still Strawberries and Cream Oatmeal, Pasta with Vodka Sauce. For me, I really, really enjoyed the steak dinner we had on Sunday night - yum, yum, good

Simple as can be

With spring around the corner (ya right), cleaning has been high on the priority list. This is what we figured out this weekend...

The cleaner your mom told you about is the best thing!!!!

Deric was trying to get all the water marks and stains out of our kitchen sink. He tried the fancy Clorox cleaner (sorry Ann Marie), but it did only a mediocre job. Then, while mopping the floor, he filled the sink with water and vinegar. And low and behold - when he drained the sink, it had cleaned the sink much better than the expensive cleaners.

We are converting to vinegar, water and baking soda!!!!

Found out this morning that my European work trip will be PARIS!!!! Timing is the first week of September.

I am so excited since our friends Scott and Sarah (and baby Jay) live there. Now there will be no excuses....

What are we up to?

Update on life...

Here is what we are up to

Colin Loves - playing outside, anything outside. He has mastered his tricycle and loves to ride it up and down the driveway.

Anna Loves - Her new kitchen toys (pie plate, pie server, Bundt pan). She carries them all over the house. She also loves to be outside, although gets a little mad when we don't let her play on the ground. Can't wait until we have grass.

Momma Loves - just finished another Jodi Picoult book "Perfect Match", looking forward to the next one. I also just found out that I will need to travel to Europe (Geneva most likely) for work - looking forward to that. My favourite time of the day is after bath time - Colin, Anna and I always play in our bedroom - rolling on the floor, giggling - being together!

Food Loves - both kids love pasta with vodka sauce - favourites are spinach stuffed Ravioli and tortellini from Costco. They also both love pancakes which we make every Sunday morning.

Words in the house - Anna is now saying Hi, Bye, and uh oh.... Colin's funnies talk - Deric and I were talking, and Colin asked me to go into the next room. I said to Deric just to come with us. Colin says "Daddy no out", pushes him out the door and shuts it. Then he opened the door, says "Thank you daddy", and shuts the door again! LOL

Have a good week!

Growing stats

Anna had her one year check up today. Of course she is as healthy as can be!

Weight - 18 lbs 9 oz (that means you have gained 10 pounds since you were born)
Height - 28 inches

Unfortunately, no turning your car seat around yet - 1.5 pounds to go. I can't wait!

One Year Old!!!

Dearest Anna,

You are one year old today! It is hard to believe that it was a year ago that I went to the hospital at 5:30 in the morning for your scheduled c-section. You were so patient and waited until your due date arrived - my doctor would have much preferred you to arrive the week prior, but I wanted an April baby! Thank you dear....

And what a year it has been! You continually remind us that each child is different - different from Colin and so much of an individual you are! You are a wonderful sleeper waking up each morning between 6:30 and 7 am and are happy from the moment you wake. You welcome everyone you meet with a big "Hi" and smile. And they too love it - and comment on your blue eyes.

Things you love the most - eating with your fingers, listening to music (especially Little Einstein music), and playing peek a boo. But I would have to say that your favourite is Colin - you love it when he pays attention to you, you chase him around the house, and watch everything he does.

I have to admit that the day before you were born, I cried because I was unsure if I could love you as much as Colin. Friends told me that I could and would, but I still was not certain. I felt guilty that you would have to compete with Colin for attention and was worried that he would would require even more attention from me making me choose between you and him.

But the friends were right - even though Colin still gets more cuddles than you (more because you don't want them as much), I don't have to choose between you. It seemed like both you and Colin knew that my time needed to be shared and understood who needed it most (my, aren't you smart). I knew right after you arrived that I could love you just the same and would cherish all our days together! Plus, I think you are better off because of your brother - not many kids are entertained from the day they are born - bathtime, play time, meal time is much more fun with big brother around!

You continually make us laugh - you like to put things on your head (food especially), and play peek a boo with books. You love it when we read to you - your favourite book is your pet book. My favourite Anna story right now is from the other week when Lela and Molly (twins 5 months younger than you) were over to play. You would grab a toy and bring it to them; then bring another one. You would laugh when they played with your toys and were so gentle. So sweet!

Happy Birthday my little one. I love you lots, and am so proud to be your momma!
